Michael has been involved with nonprofit organizations and small businesses for over 36 years-- as a supervising faculty member for the Small Business Institute at Texas Tech University, a continuing education professor for the Small Business Administration programs offered through Louisiana State University, as one of the original core of faculty in the Spiro Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership at Clemson University, as a supervising professor for Clemson University service learning projects in nonprofit organizations, and as a consultant and trainer.Michael is an Alumni Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Clemson University. He has taught human resource management at both the undergraduate and graduate levels for over 38 years at Clemson University, SUNY at Geneseo, Texas Tech University, and Louisiana State University.He has published extensively on employee relations in professional journals in management, psychology, sociology, and business law. His research and writing have been syndicated by the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times, and featured in USA Today, Working Woman, Fortune, HR Magazine, the Harvard Business Review, and newspapers and radio shows in the USA, Canada, and Europe. He was a Contributing Editor for Success Magazine for four years, and co-authored Personnel/Human Resource Management, a textbook published by Irwin-McGraw-Hill Publishing Company. Michael holds a Bachelors Degree in economics, Masters Degrees in both economics and management, and a Ph.D. in organizational behavior and management from the University of Florida. He was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Alliance for Small Businesses and Nonprofit Organizations that won an InnoVision Technology Award for Community Service in 2005 for its innovative program to bring university students and the nonprofit community together for service learning projects.
