Michael was the founder of SeedRock Africa Agriculture and the architect of the business and development strategy. He acted as CEO and led the development of the company from its inception, and was responsible for devising and executing the business model and the development of all assets in West Africa. He led the government negotiations which resulted in SRAA being granted Foreign Investment Corporation status in both Burkina Faso and Mali and acquisition of government issued leaseholds and official concessions to over 43,000 hectares of uninhabited agricultural land in production areas such as the Office du Niger in Mali. He managed all development activities including the design and implementation of a 1,500 farmer strong outgrower program; the construction of the company's edible oil processing facility; the launch of the company's "Africa Gold" edible oil brand and oversaw management and operation of farming activities. In 2013, he successfully executed the transition to local management, who now oversee the day to day running of the in-country business. Current activities include the implementation of outgrower farm programs to supply the oil processing facility; the continued development of the registered sunflower and soy bean oil brand; and the application for an allocation of prime irrigated agricultural land within the $133M World Bank sponsored Bagre Irrigated Development Area. Michael is a board member of SeedRock Africa Agriculture.

SeedRock is an investor in and a developer of natural resources and energy related businesses globally. These businesses are benefited by a commitment to additional investment in the social (health, education and microfinance) and environmental sectors, particularly within emerging markets.

Michael founded Carbon Synergy Ltd, a company established to capitalise on the carbon trading and biofuels markets in Australia and internationally. In this role, Michael established research and development partnerships for new technology development with some of Australia’s leading alternative energy research centres including the University of Queensland and the Centre for Plant Conservation Genetics in the areas of carbon sequestration, dry land forestry, cellulosic ethanol conversion and carbon fuel cell development projects.

Michael was a senior corporate lawyer with one of Australia’s leading national law firms. He routinely advised many of Australia’s largest development and investment companies on the acquisition and development aspects of their property, agribusiness, resources, renewable energy, construction and associated investment activities.
