- Designing and implementing an IPv4 to IPv6 transition for a WISP. Using a new /32 IPv6 allocation and AS BGP peering setup. Redesigning the IP address deployment and network (internal) design to support the transition and to add WISP redundancy to the network. Additionally working on AAA mechanisms for radio tower transmitters and client connections. - Significant Cisco IOS work building global peering sessions on both IPv4 and IPv6. Working with both individual network providers as well as several peering points (like SFMIX, Any/2, etc). Dual stacking IPv4/IPv6 down to the end customer level (Egress Routing/Core Routing/ PE/CE Routing, route reflectors) - Constructing small (less than 32 physical hosts) openstack clusters for Dev/QA testing. Includes a "boot" structure for both physical as well as virtual nodes, a small elastic search storage system as a back end to logstash, and a minimal dashboard for overall cloud performance monitoring. - Working in a training environment to study forensic methodologies and techniques for cloud based systems (primary differences being storage typically is not part of a physical server/vm). Working on defining "chain-of-custody" abilities for data being extracted.

Evangalizing the IaaS foundational methodologies within HP along with the possible PaaS frameworks for multi-country deployments. Significant hands on work during both design and construction phases of both facilities and system services.Doing the initial design/framework for a multi-site/multi-country sharded customer base system using a combination of GTM (F5), stripped down SQL/memcached initial user data, and RESTful interfaces to create a centeralized "redirection" system for both client (JS based devices) as well as SaaS services to find the "actual" user data.Expanding the overall design and framework to support devices other than WebOS. Includes iPhone, Blackberry, Android, Chrome, and other JavaScript enabled devices. Working with other architects to create a more generic "cloud" API system for authenticated key/value management as well as Application Catalog services (both branded and unbranded) for public and enterprise customers.Designed/implemented "Cloud 2.0" environment to allow for programmatic deployment of IaaS resources inside of a generically constructed physical data center. Turned network infrastructure into another software component of deployment. Allowed for the design of arbitrary network and system layers and interactions without the need for re-cabling or redesign of the physical infrastructure. Provided a mechanism to deploy an openstack system, a VMWare system, or raw hardware in layer 2-5 (OSI model) definitions.

Significant work design and building scalable cloud infrastructure with the 3Tera AppLogic product. Working with several other customer companies on how to construct physical and network logical designs to deploy AppLogic environments both in single and multi-site data centers. Working with CA (they aquired 3Tera at the beginning of 2010) for the packaging of rapidly deployable apps.

New title due to acquisition of Danger by Microsoft. The company is now "Danger, a subsidiary of Microsoft". Responsible for the systems design and architecture for the development and deployment of the Danger service (hiptop/sidekick service). Involved in PMX (Premium Mobile eXperiences) group in the transfer and foundational design of scalable datacenters supporting the cell phone service model.

Expansion beyond the Network/Security side of the company. As the company moves towards the "nextgen" version of their cloud services, moving into a more overall systems architecture role to coordinate multi-site user/data sharding and load shifting. Creating a reproducable IaaS structure to create functional replication of production problems in staging, QA, and near-release development. Responsible for moving to a more clear multi-tier architecture that can be both articulated as well as audited.

Looked at existing data center deployments and the networking layouts to begin the redesign from a large scale "flat" network into a multi-tiered system. Managed 5 network engineers focused on multi-center deployments around the nation as well as the network interfacing into TMobile's internal data network (support directly for the sidekick phone, the first "smart" phone). With the redesign of the network starting, eventually moved into overall operational and systems architecture for the company.

Independent executive consulting for startup companies specializing in LAMP architectures and system designs. Hands on design work to include performance and scalability design as well as systems monitoring. Specializing in PHP, Perl, and Java technoligies (hands on for PHP and Perl, design for Java and J2EE systems). Most consulting positions specialize is analyzing business requirements and business plans and determining the best "first pass" for a supportable system (balancing performance, easy of use, ease of design and implementation for non-system programmers, and cash flow as measured over time and intendended investment goals).

Lead Architect/Technologist for a peer-to-peer voice/text messaging system. Primary customers are China, Korea, Japan, and India. Responsible for the design and initial interactive coding projects with both US based and India based software teams. Project was broken into two parts, client side development (application that ran under windows with later development for Windows CE) as well as server side development. Core services for peer-to-peer negotiation were written in Java while web services, accounting, UI, and customer branding were in PHP. UI was developed to be used in multiple languages against a common data base (UTF-8 based) with the ability to swap both look and feel as well as language so that the overall UI was deploy-able almost anywhere.

Executive consultant to aid companies with design and initial deployment issues. Contracts range from a few weeks to several months depending on the scope of the deployments. Much of the initial consulting work is ascertaining the business requirements and goals prior to design. Interaction with CxO level and VP level individuals to determine best courses of action and deployment to support or accelerate business goals and requirements. Includes hands on design and employee/team management for initial corporate deployments. In addition, work on QAing both product plans as well as documentation for deployments.

Information Security Architect within the CSPO organization at Cisco reporting to the CIO. Responsibilities include policy definition for corporate IT usage, design and validation of application infrastructure for both internal and public use. Inspection and validation of security policies and procedures throughout the company. Interactions both within and without Cisco for compliance on NIST(US), ISO 17799(UK), ISO 13335(Canada), S-OX Section 404, SB 1386 (Calif. security requirements), Safe Harbor (exporting information outside the US), RFC 2196. All designs and implementations must not only apply to the above regulations but also to internal requirements.

Founded CSTONE, Inc. to design and build large scale infrastructure for customer companies. Largest customers included: 24/7 Media, Mediaplex Inc., ZixCorp, SaveSmart, L90, eFinance. Grew the company from its initial 5 employees to over 65 at the height of its operation. During the 99-00 years, grew to an EBITA of over $2M. Operations closed due to too much exposure to the business failings of clients.

Started as employee 7. Grew the engineering department to >65 individuals specifically designing, deploying, supporting, and managing a worldwide ISP network along with the 1st professional colocation facility in the Silicon Valley/Bay Area. Specialized in tier 1 backbone design and ISDN deployment to thousands of individuals in the Bay Area as well as the LA Basin. Company was eventually bought by Concentric for its Network backbone and BGP peering relationships worldwide as well as its colocation equipment and facilities in several states as well as 5 countries. Concentric was subsiquently purchased by XO Communications for similar reasons.

Design and deployment (including support) of the various Sunlab projects within the Sun Corporation. Includes design and support of various technologies for the enhancement of the Solaris operating system and other network based projects. Significant work on ATM design and deployment as well as NIS/NIS+ coding and deployment testing. Sunlabs is restricted to 100 individuals specifically geared for "future technology" design. Some initial support for the new "Java" language developed in the labs.

Lead Software Engineer and Architect for tooling and systems support for the Cumulus PBX switch. This was a new generation switch processor design where the overall team was responsible for porting >30mil lines of code into a new hardware platform that was being designed and deployed at the same time. The switch was designed to be both SS7 capable as well as PRI and Central Office capable for cities below the 250,000 population size. Target countries for the switch focused on the Asian and Russian markets as well as Middle East countries (first major deployment was to the government of Egypt).
