Conduct of Phase I, II, III, IV, and post-market studies of drugs and devices in the Multiple Sclerosis Center at the Department of Neurology. Communication, collaboration, and coordination for clinical and translational research projects undertaken within UMass Chan Medical School and UMass Memorial Hospital as well as studies sponsored by pharmaceutical companies, NIH, other sponsors, and academic institutions. Clinical: Patient education, recruitment, and scheduling; scheduling and coordinating laboratory tests and imaging; capturing patient reported outcomes; conduct of study visits in cooperation with PIs, physicians, collaborators, and nurses. Operations/Management: Clinical research study start-up; regulatory compliance; billing compliance; data management, verification, and quality control with sponsors and contract research organizations overseeing the trials. Team Building: Hands-on training of other research coordinators, team building, and knowledge management. Learning/Self-development: Completion of graduate course at UMass in data analysis using statistical software (Stata) in clinical and translational research.

Liaising between research subjects and PIs/senior clinical research staff for successful execution of clinical research studies of drugs and devices from start-up to close-out. Study protocol review, source documentation, and QA/QC to minimize protocol deviations while ensuring adherence to Good Clinical Practice.Clinical/Patient Interaction: Interaction with study subjects from various demographic groups such as adolescents, teenagers, adult men and women, and the geriatric population. Recruitment/education/scheduling of study subjects, subject screening, and follow-up visits which included ECG, phlebotomy, laboratory sample processing, and collection of study data/Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs). Memory screening tests and facilitation of PI assessments. Associated testing such as MRIs. Research Data Management: Collection and transcription of data into electronic Case Report Forms (eCRF) on sponsors’ database systems (e.g., Medidata, Oracle-Inform). Updating study data on database systems (e.g., CTMS Real Time).Study Coordination: Communication and coordination with study-sponsoring pharmaceutical companies and with Contract Research Organizations overseeing studies during site initiation as well as interim monitoring and close-out visits.Public Outreach: Representing the company at marketing, outreach, and community service efforts in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.Other Administrative Responsibilities: Sourcing and maintenance of study supplies inventory; identification, packaging, and shipping of laboratory samples; preparing source documentation.Learning/Self-development: Certification as a Dementia Practitioner

Contracts: Writing and administration of project sub-contracts ranging from $10K to $46M and processing of invoices and monthly subcontractor payments for the $290M Whittier/I-95 Bridge Improvement Project, Amesbury, MA and $82M Memorial Bridge Replacement Project, Portsmouth, NH.Project Management: Attending project coordination meetings and preparing detailed minutes and progress reports.
