US Department of Transportation Volpe Exchange Project, Cambridge, Mass, Project ManagerMatthew is representing Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on this $550 million project as part of MIT’s exchange agreement with the US Government. The project consists of a 440,000 square foot, 13-story building to be owned and operated by the USDOT for their US headquarters, including state of the art offices, and testing and training facilities to invest in the future of transportation. The building is designed to meet LEED Platinum certification as well as the rigorous building standards of the US Government. The new building also has 200 underground parking spaces and 4 acres of detailed architectural grounds. As the quality control manager, Matthew provides day-to-day oversight of the CM’s quality control plan including daily inspections, performance feedback and coordination with the CM, and weekly progress and deficiency log tracking. He coordinates daily with design consultants, commissioning consultants, and 3rd party inspectors, including US Government representatives, to review and maintain quality of construction. Matthew acts as the interface between MIT and OPM team, and the project quality control team, bringing tough issues to resolution quickly and definitively.
