Migrated schools from a Novell-based network architecture to MS Windows server 2003. Implemented trials of ISDN-based internet provision which was later replaced by the wide area network. Provided day-to-day support on all aspects of network and workstation issues.

Refurbished network infrastructure, introduced enterprise file servers, designed and implemented leased-line internet connectivity, website, email system, proxy and web filtering. Revamped procurement procedures resulting in cost savings. Introduced rolling replacement scheme for equipment and deployed internet across the campus.

Designed and implemented 300+ workstation LAN based on Novell Netware 4.1. Led a team of support and helpdesk staff. Restructured the support service. Managed network userbase of 3000 staff and students. Acting Head of IT for extended period.

Maintenance of workshops and test equipment, construction of bespoke equipment and demonstrators, assistant lecturer on C&G and BTEC courses.

Introduced Novell Netware 3.x and desktop publishing, lead team of 6 technicians servicing electronic test equipment and supporting the teaching of electronics courses. Taught C&G electronics servicing part-time.

Fault-finding and repair of domestic audio-visual equipment, reception, sales and banking, stock control and spares ordering.
