Md Irteja Islam is an early career researcher and academic (i.e., Postdoctoral Research Associate) at the Sydney School of Public Health, University of Sydney. He is also holding Adjunct Research Fellow positions at the University of Southern Queensland and Spreeha Foundation Bangladesh. Previously, he served as the Assistant Scientist of the Maternal and Child Health Division at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR, B). He was also formerly a Research Medical Officer at UChicago Research Bangladesh – A research affiliate of the University of Chicago, USA. For over 10 years, Islam has been involved in scientific health research and academia. He is proficient at implementing health research projects, and using big datasets and making statistical analyses, following quantitative and qualitative research methods. He is experienced in supervising/mentoring students (bachelor, master, PhD) and junior doctors in Australia and globally. Islam has led/co-authored 40 scientific peer-reviewed papers focusing on child and adolescent health, mental health, injuries, Indigenous health, health services research, remote/rural health, and global health. He received his MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery) from Bangladesh in 2009, obtained his MSc (Public Health) from the UK, in 2013, and completed a PhD (Public Health and Health Services) from Australia in 2021.
