  • Thompson Davis & Co.
    Director Of Institutional Equities
    Thompson Davis & Co. Jan 2015 - Mar 2016
    Richmond, Va, Us
Was excited to bring large caps to TD&Co which had a great history as a small cap firm. Continued to manage the Trust Portfolio (large-cap core equity) and ARC (long/short equity) strategies. Began managing an Equity Income strategy in January 2015 that used covered call writing and dividends to generate income, which was slightly different from the process implemented at Franklin Street.www.thompsondavis.com
  • Hambledon, Llc
    Managing Principal, Chief Investment Officer
    Hambledon, Llc Mar 2013 - Mar 2015
Launched Hambledon to focus on large cap company research and marketing the Trust Portfolio strategy to institutional investors. In the process of comparing the portfolio to other assets, the strategy had as much in common with equity hedge funds than the S&P, namely in its low beta, downside capture and volatility savings. If a long-only strategy already possessed characteristics of an alternative investment, how much more value could be added if we adjusted the portfolio construction process to allow shorts and leverage? The ARC strategy (long/short equity) launched in August 2014.
  • Franklin Street Partners
    Senior Portfolio Manager
Franklin Street Partners Jul 2004 - Mar 2013
Upon arrival, many clients needed equity exposure, but were cautious coming out of the tech bubble. With insight from a strong dedication to client objectives, a few partners asked me to launch a risk-averse equity strategy. With its inception in October 2004, the Trust Portfolio strategy was designed to provide desired equity exposure with significantly less volatility than the S&P 500.Within the first year, I convinced the other members of the Asset Allocation Committee to adopt the Michaud estimation and optimization engine. Throughout my tenure, we tested and integrated updates to market data to arrive at robust estimates by using powerful contrast technology. This led to practical allocations from a resampled optimization process that performed beyond expectations. As the FRB engaged in quantitative easing, fixed income investments yielded very little income. Again, several partners asked me to launch an Equity Income strategy to restore a level a dependable income. The strategy utilized the existing Trust Portfolio research process and began trading in January 2011.www.franklin-street.com

Worked briefly with the outstanding team that subsequently launched RiverFront Investment Group. As mean-variance asset optimization presented significant limitations, and it was my job to find a more productive tool. After lengthy discussions with a series of the most prominent economists in the field, the search led to Michaud resampling. Uncertainty became invaluable.www.riverfrontig.comwww.newfrontieradvisors.com
