I grew up in the little ag-based town of Merced, California. I am proud of my identity as a mixed Salvadoran woman and my family's humble beginnings. I am a First-Gen undergrad pursuing my BA in Music and also have a minor in 'Equity in Education.' Apart from studying music, my professional work has been predominantly in DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) efforts. I absolutely love to work with people, especially in facilitative roles. Some of my finest work is in event planning and programming. I also love to create! I dabble in sketching and painting which often transfers over to graphics and formatting I do with my work :)I currently work with Cal Poly SLO's Admissions and Recruitment office as a DEI Ambassador. In this position, I help coordinate the Mustang Mentorship Program and assist with recruitment efforts targeted toward underrepresented/socioeconomically disadvantaged students. I feel honored to have such a role where I can make a positive impact on students. It is my mission to advocate for those who are underrepresented and victims of socialinjustice.Given the choice of my study, I very much participate in the arts. My primary instrument is trombone and I love to play jazz. I also do marching band and always have such a blast with each performance!
