The Bangladesh Disaster Preparedness Centre (BDPC) was established in 1992 as Bangladesh’s first independent, local NGO focused solely on disaster risk reduction (DRR). Devastating floods in 1988 and a cyclone claiming 138,000 lives in 1991 highlighted the need for a shift from post-disaster response to pre-disaster preparedness.Project: Community based Flood Risk Management (CbFRM) under Ministry of Disaster Management & Relief (MoDMR), Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) Location: Manikganj, Sirajganj and Tangail Major Responsibilities: 1. Co facilitated training and organized mock drills for 500 volunteers in 20 different unions of Manikganj, Sirajganj and Tangail district.2. Processed data and prepared online database of 60000 household lists to keep project records and information.3. Coordinated the event National Level Advocacy Workshop on CbFRM 2019 with 200 participants from different Ministry, National and International Development Partners, Researchers and officials.4. Reviewed and compiled field reports, project proposals and relevant documents.
