As a research data specialist II in the State Compensation Insurance Fund (State Fund) Customer Experience (CX) department, I was responsible for conducting quantitative research on State Fund's various customers including businesses, brokers, workers, and other business partners. I was also responsible for leading the Voice of the Customer program and working with the CX department to receive input into the creation of surveys and other measurements across the enterprise to ensure the validity and reliability of the customer data that is gathered.

As a research data specialist with the Department of General Services (DGS) Office of Strategic Planning, Policy, and Research (OSPPR) in the Executive Office, I directed the OSPPR survey program, facilitated trainings and meetings, moderated focus groups, and provided data analysis services. My duties included designing, conducting, and reporting on numerous survey research studies, including a statewide assessment survey, an organizational health survey, performance management outcome assessments, customer satisfaction surveys, internal surveys, and an exit interview survey. I designed data dashboards to present the results of these surveys. I also recruited for and moderated focus groups, and developed interview guides and conducted interviews for smaller projects. Additionally, I facilitated Lean Training sessions and strategic planning meetings. Finally, I conducted other statistical analyses in a research consultant capacity.

I assisted with interpreting results from analyses of a youth health and anti-tobacco research project.

Acting in a research director capacity, I designed and conducted qualitative and quantitative research projects, which included budgeting, identifying project objectives, designing research instruments, conducting research, analytical plans, analysis, and reporting. I assisted with the writing and editing of a book, authored more than 20 research reports and proposals, and copy and content edited communications and reports written by team members.My duties included analyzing the data from and ensuring the validity of the Positive IQ assessment, providing research results and research support to the rest of the Positive IQ team, designing new survey assessments, directing the research team which includes two research assistants, and designing, conducting, analyzing, and reporting on market research projects for Positive IQ. I also updated and revised the assessment, then retested the survey, based on the findings of my analysis.

I developed best approaches for youth communication campaigns based on results of research studies, authored or contributed to research papers for conferences and government agencies, and authored or contributed to more than 30 research reports and proposals.Duties included project management, survey design, analyzing and reporting on quantitative survey data, planning, moderating and reporting on focus groups, qualitative data analysis, proposals and bids, and presenting research results.

Assisted with the design, analysis, and writing of reports and presentations from advertising effectiveness studies. I also contributed analytical results and written explanation of research analysis for company white paper.

Assisted with the design and questionnaire formatting of a survey instrument to research Iowan's water perceptions.

Taught five semesters of Media Uses and Effects, and one semester of Media History and Culture.

Assisted with a content analysis study of rural Midwest newspapers' coverage of health disparities and issues.

Conducted marketing research in the field, surveying and interviewing respondents about their attitudes and opinions towards brands and products. I wrote summaries of my experiences and findings, and I was also a back-up data analyst.
