Feedr provide a range of catering solutions for businesses looking to provide healthy food for their employees. I joined Feedr at the start of a growth phase just after acquisition and was tasked with growing the tech team and evolving the team culture as we looked to take the product to the next level. My role was a mixture of leadership, management and hands-on engineering which evolved with the business. Within the first year, we:- Grew the engineering team from 3 to 12 developers and moulded a new developer culture with a focus on quality and developer responsibility. This included the roll out of new testing and deployment strategies.- Migrated our cloud platform from a single environment, point-and-click setup to a configuration-as-code, segregated, scalable solution that was rigorously reviewed and monitored both for resilience and security. This included a new adoption of serverless technologies- Implemented new enterprise features such as single-sign-on to support a range of new large, corporate clients with more complex requirements than our existing customers- Diagnosed, designed and delivered numerous improvements to performance and scalability, as well as a high level re-architecting project designed at simplifying complex business logic that regularly hindered developer productivity

Technical coach for a 3-month intensive course in agile software development for newbie developers and career changers. Makers has a progressive educational philosophy focused on learning through application and building good process and technical skills over purely technical knowledge. An emphasis on learning itself as a skill helps our graduates demonstrate consistent and accelerated ongoing growth after they leave the course and enter industry. The syllabus includes material based around Ruby, Javascript, teamwork, OO practices, TDD process, agile process and communication skills, while final projects have been delivered in a range of languages and frameworks including in Java, Python, Swift, React Native and Spring Boot.My role as a coach involves:- Development and delivery of technical workshops- 1:1 technical coaching- Facilitation and technical assistance for team projects- Agile coaching- Giving frank and constructive feedback to students where requiredOn top of this, as a coaching team we also try to follow best agile practices and are constantly seeking to iterate and improve. This has led to additional education and technical projects, such as development of a code review platform to facilitate peer and coach feedback and initiating and building a 'post-course' coaching program to support developers beyond the initial 12 week course.

Technical lead for an Agile team of 4, responsible for feature delivery and technical improvement for Movebubble’s two-sided property rental marketplace. The company developed two mobile apps (one with ReactJS/Cordova, the other with React-Native) backed by a .NET MVC and RavenDB backend. Highlights include:• Designing and delivering a prototype chat service to connect agents and renters. • Re-architecting the backend system to move away from an MVC monolith to a series of Web-API microservices with OAuth-based single sign on.• Fast, Lean, BDD cycles – acting on customer needs and data to take features from concept to delivery in rapid iterations, pro-actively making decisions to deliver only what was needed. • Consulting with sales and operation staff to understand internal processes and deliver better tooling to improve efficiency and reduce technical support load. • Working to improve the company’s Agile processes e.g. by improving the efficiency of technical planning procedures, reducing meeting time and improving internal communication.

I worked as technical lead or as supporting senior developer on a variety of projects, often in a client facing position and always in an Agile fashion, with an emphasis on code quality, code review, testing and continuous delivery.
