Maintenance and upgrade of the Rail Network Infrastructure for Freight Trains.Responsible for compiling and implementing life of asset management strategies for the centralregion at Transnet Freight Rail.Responsibilities:• Lead engineer for the maintenance of the rail network infrastructure in the central region.• Carried out asset maintenance and modifications to optimize network availability andreliability.• Took the lead i n the investigation of network failures by performing root causeanalysis as part of re-occurrence management.• Provided leadership for infra maintenance personnel in day-to-day maintenance managementactivities.• Compiled opex and copex budgets for major network maintenance and project activities.• Provided technical support to operations personnel during daily freight logistics activitiesand commissioning of the network after annual maintenance shutdowns.• Supported management strategic and operational plans.• Developed and managed Opex budget (± R2.0 bn per annum).• Developed and managed Copex budget (± R1.5 bn per annum).

Overall responsibilities for site cleaning, and civilinfrastructure maintenance• Develop and manage maintenance Opex budget (approx R7 Mil per annum)
