"Improving the conduct and reporting of clinical research."The Vassar Research Team is a group of medical students, residents, PhD candidates, and physicians working under Matt Vassar, PhD with the core value of making research better. The website linked below has a list of some of the team's publications, as well as publicity they have received.In a two month sprint, I critically evaluated research from multiple fields of medicine, including ophthalmology, anesthesiology, and pulmonology. Specific topics of interest were evidence of spin in abstracts of studies, conflicts of interest, and the use of unpublished data in meta-analyses and systematic reviews. Published articles can be found in my publications section.Since my initial summer with the research team, I have worked with Dr. Vassar to recruit more students to the team and establish a working relationship between OSU and KCUMB for the purpose of research.I am returning July, 2020 to help lead groups of medical students through research projects.

As a Pharmacy Technician, I was greatly involved with the inner workings of the Freeman Health System. From hand delivering TPNs to refilling the stock medications on each floor, there was no shortage of things to do. Depending on the day, I also spent a good amount of time on the phone with nurses from various units, hunting medications and distributing new medication orders.

I handled all minor medical mishaps over the summer and at select off season events while under the direct supervision of the camp manager (also an LPN) and the guidance of an RN and orders of an M.D. When major events occurred, I worked with doctors and nurses that accompany their children to camp. All instances of assistance are documented and kept on record at the camp should they require later review. My position was also responsible for the holding and dispensing of all medication in the camp.
