A well seasoned, ACLS/BLS certified, registered nurse with 10 years experience providing direct patient care. I started my journey in healthcare as a CNA, after passing my NCLEX board examination I transitioned into the role of a registered nurse on a medical/surgical floor. Covenant Health purchased and built a new facility in Roane Count (Roane Medical Center), where I would pick up extra shifts to help facilitate the transition for staff in opening a new facility. Later, I transferred from Ft. Loudon to Roane Medical to accept a full time position on their medical surgical floor. While there I served as a chair member on the nurse practice counsel where we made adjustments and changes in nursing processes. I also served as a preceptor to many of our new graduate nurses which would later become a system wide movement to help facilitate nursing retention. From Roane Medical I transferred to Parkwest Medical center and accepted the role of a case manger. While the pace of this position was not exactly what I was looking for, the skills that it provided me forever changed the way I understood nursing to be. It was in this role I was able to change my mindset from a task based position into one that understood the bigger picture and operations part of healthcare. My heart however was left longing for the adrenaline of bedside nursing so I transitioned to the role of shift leader on a neurological/step down unit which is the current position I hold. I have completed several leadership classes and have been scheduled for more as my desires are to one day take on a management role.
