As a fourth year deaf studies student, I am actively seeking work upon graduation. In school, I decided to pursue a major in deaf and sign language studies with minors in non-profit leadership and accessibility because I have a love for people and a desire to make the world a better place one day at a time. Through my internship with the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, I learned what it really takes to transform the lives of those I work with.I started learning ASL 6 years ago in high school and fell in love with the D/deaf community through my studies. As I progressed in college, I found a heart for those with disabilities and wanted to be a better ally for that people group. My heart for service lies in assisting those who have disabilities to live life to their fullest capacity. In addition to high proficiency in American Sign Language, I am actively pursuing the skill of braille transcribing. With this skill I hope to broaden my field of work with those who have disabilities. Not only am I pursuing skills within the realm of disabilities, but I am also learning the ins and outs of non-profit organizations. In school, I have studied the bones of every non-profit while also learning how to write and apply for grants. Additionally, in fall 2020, I was chosen to speak on a panel discussing ethics in non-profits. Look forward to connecting with you and making this world a better place!
