I currently teach and Independent Living class and a Cooperative Education class. I work with students grades 9-12 with a variety of ability levels. I modify my curriculum based upon what my student's functioning levels are. I also run the school to work department for the special education department. I have a group of students who are not competitively employed that go to work at an area hospital with my job coach. While at their job site, they learn the skill sets necessary to obtain competitive employment. The skills learned are transferrable, which is an asset to these students when seeking employment. I also have a group of competitively employed students that I oversee. I am very involved in the transition of my students. I am active in our local TPC (Transition Planning Committee), where we stay current on federal laws, new transition ideas, and learn what agencies can assist our students with after they leave high school.

I taught a K-2 self-contained classroom. I had students coming in and out throughout the day to receive core instruction in a special education setting that was tailored to their current academic functioning. I worked with students with a variety of disabilities as well as behavioral and emotional concerns.
