Proofread and some assistance in development of game day production script. Ensure all sponsorship reads are fulfilled and the production team has media and music prior to game time. 8.) Filming and point of contact for Monday night Facebook live shows: a sponsorship fulfillment with a local Muskegon business. Film the show, ensure giveaways to fans and opportunities for fan interaction with players and coaches.

Writing spotlight feature stories on alumni who have done outstanding things within their career since graduating from GVSU. These feature stories are published anywhere from our monthly email newsletters, the alumni association webpage, and social media sites.

As an intern for the Grand Valley State University Sport Information Department, I continued to utilize my writing and communication skills. I became more familiar with communication in sport, and was exposed to writing bios on past or present members of the athletic department, putting together media guides, post-game information, game notes, game recaps, and filing and keeping records on student-athletes. I helped prepare the football press box for upcoming home games and got an overall feel of game day operations and the preparation that goes into athletic events.

I reached out to the Sport Information Director for this volunteer opportunity, in hope that I would determine if this was a field I was meant to be in. With this opportunity, I spent a semester taking in everything that went on in the office. I also got to do a little hands on work. My tasks included all forms of office work: making copies, filing papers, and updating player profiles onto the athletics webpage. I also had the opportunity to help put together the football media guide. Within these four months, I was able to get an overall feel for the media aspect of athletics.
