Coast Funds is dedicated to empowering First Nations in the Great Bear Rainforest and Haida Gwaii to achieve vibrant economies and communities in tandem with the conservation of their homelands.• Positioned the organization as a leading model in conservation and community-based financing through promoting the accomplishments of the participating Indigenous communities and leveraging recapitalization of funds from the government with initial funding of $116 million.• Secured high-level media coverage and relations by developing press releases and pitching stories to media, resulting in key article features in various media outlets, including the Globe and Mail, the Tyee, Desmog Canada, the National Observer publications, etc.• Received the highest First Nations regional engagement in the organization’s history through coordinating the capacity building strategy, including the administration of a $260K program budget.• Built and managed a brand-new communications department from the ground up by developing and executing new communications strategies, including the launch of a digital newsletter, new website, and social media marketing on various platforms for the organization.• Worked closely with First Nations communities to collaboratively develop their project stories shared online to ensure a community-based approach.• Executed strong stakeholder relationship management by collaborating with diverse stakeholder groups, including Indigenous communities and leadership, agency vendors, government officials, senior management, and the Board of Directors to ensure key messages were strategically delivered and fostered support for the organization.• Led the design, production, and distribution of various corporate communications and marketing materials, such as a quarterly newsletter, briefing notes, community presentations, annual reports, speeches, and articles, to significantly improve the visibility of the organization and increase stakeholder engagement.
