Responsible for a state contract to introduce and expand the reach of accessibility to Assistive Technology among residents of Massachusetts. Facilitated demonstrations and coordinated assistive technology equipment loans to consumers and professionals.KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS - Tufts University, Invited Guest Speaker, Assistive Technology (OTS 105), October 2010.- Developed relationships with local colleges to promote the Center and develop a plan to increase awareness of the benefits of using assistive technology in an academic setting.- Established increase in community participation in assistive technology lending, increased number of vendor presentations and increased attendance at inservices.

Conducted assistive technology evaluations to assess clients’ need for both computer and environmental control. Developed and implemented customized and comprehensive technology and training plans for each client Worked to modify existing technologies or environmental equipment to better accommodate clients’ situation.KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS - Used Environmental controls to fully automate thermostat controls, windows, entertainment systems, hospital bed and computer for client with quadriplegia. - Lead a team comprised of an electrical engineer, physical therapist and occupational therapist to modify an electric (PowerWheels) car to be powered and steered in an accessible manner for a child with congenital deformities that limited his mobility. - Identified, implemented and trained a client with quadriplegia on a fully voice activated computer system for academic success in her Masters in Business at MIT. - Created fully accessible computer and academic environment for high school client, who subsequently earned her Masters in Education.

Part of a multi-disciplinary team of therapists in the UIC assistive technology unit responsible for providing Assistive Technology assessments in the areas of seating and wheeled mobility, computer access, augmentative and alternative communication (ACC) and home modification.KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS - Development of prototype for device to assist with opening a window for a client with an upper extremity amputation. - Submitted written reports to the State of Illinois to justify assessments of durable medical and other adaptive technologies or home modifications resulting in equipment funding, which lead to technology implementation and client training.

Used 3 programming languages and Organic Chemistry protocols to develop and update the University of Minnesota Biocatalysis/Biodegradation Database Pathway Prediction tool and graphics for several components. Specifically, updated the Nicotine and completed the 1,1,1-Trichloroethane (an/aerobic) Pathways and created updated graphics for several components. Resulted in furthering the development of an industry tool allowing for assessment of compound breakdown for environmental safety.
