I have chosen to become a Mechanical Engineer because I am inquisitive and interested in the concept of “how the world works”. I have a keen desire to work in an environment that challenges my mental and physical intuition to constantly develop my knowledge in the Engineering discipline and to acquire knowledge of the other engineering disciplines that would surround me. Through the years that I have been studying at the University of Pretoria, I have learnt a vast array of skills and knowledge that has fueled my aspiration for greater knowledge. I have also learnt from many a life lesson to push through stressful periods, or simply stopping to enjoy the accomplishment of a challenging task. These challenges have molded me into a hardworking individual, and has taught me to be disciplined and curious human being. I have had multiple opportunities to work in group projects in the various modules/subjects within my degree and I found working in groups enjoyable. Learning people skills, how to effectively meet deadlines and the willingness to contribute and learn from others, are key aspects that I have developed working with other engineering students in group tasks.
