Propinquity is a consulting organization, advising companies in media research and data, ad tech, media tech and cannabis. I remain Chairman of Mediasmith which I founded in 1989 with Karen T. McFee.I am proud to be an internationally recognized digital advertising and media expert, and known within the marketing community as a thoughtful, provocative, and forward-looking authority.As a pioneer of new media application, media strategy, planning and metrics I have participated in every generation of advertising technologies and is an expert on all aspects of media technology and metrics in both the digital and traditional marketplaces.My advisory board and industry committee involvement has included key roles with the 4A’s, ARF, comScore Media Metrix, Quantcast, IAB, IAB Tech Lab, I-COM, ad:tech and the Online Publishers Association, where I have worked to establish and refine standards in metrics, business practices and financial issues for digital advertising.I am consistently called upon by such publishers as an expert resource, and have been a noted contributor to their content. I am also a regular speaker at various 4A’s, iMedia, ad:tech, IAB, I-COM, Digiday, MMS, Videonomics and sfBIG events among others.I am on the Board of Directors for sfBIG, the Global Board for I-COM and The Board of Governors for ad:tech.In 2012 I was inducted into the sfBIG Hall of Fame in recognition of my efforts in my media career. In 2017, I received Mediapost’s Online Media All-Star award. I have a number of other awards to my name, including an Effie and the first-ever ad:tech Industry Achievement Award.I am best known for my work to help further standards in the advertising media industry. This includes work done with I/PRO in the early days for site audits, lobbying for the impression definition standard recently adopted, standards in reach and frequency and other issues as well as founding the ARF's Online Media Council and serving as chair for 2+ years.
