With over 25 years experience in the international, active implantable medical device industry, and I recently joined the Medical Device Network at AusBiotech Ltd, in a Strategic Industry Development role. For the past eight years, as the UK & Eire Director, for Advanced Bionics, the Auditory/Cochlear Implant division of Boston Scientific, I successfully developed a different distribution channel involving the ‘end-users’ as part of the marketing team. I played an active voluntary role with the Parliamentary Working Group, for the Association of British Healthcare Industries, and previously, while working in the USA for a specialized Contract Research Organization (CRO), I pioneered unique ways to recruit difficult to find clinical trials subjects utilizing a multi-media approach. During my 10+ year association with Telectronics Pty, I managed a large distributor/sales network during the merger with Cordis pacing, and the 1st anti-tachycardia clinical trials in the USA. During my early career I managed the cardiac laboratories for the National Heart & Chest Hospital in London UK and set up a Cardiac department in a new hospital in Saudi Arabia. I initially trained in Medical Physics & Physiological Measurement at the University Hospital of Wales – specializing in Cardiology and studied post graduate Business Administration at the University of Denver. I have also published, and presented on a number of topics at an international level.
