I enjoy working in a field where I make a difference in other people's lives. After High School I joined the United States Marine Corps in 1999 where I flew on KC-130 aircraft platforms as an in-flight crew-chief responsible for a thirty million dollar aircraft through its maintenance, in-flight function, and recovery. During five years of service and two combat tours, I flew over five hundred flight hours with a perfect flight record and no incidents due to negligence. This experience is where I learned the value of being a hard worker, detailed oriented, punctual, and responsible.Serving as a Non-commissioned Officer in the Marine Corps reinforced my understanding of being disciplined, and driven while maintaining my empathetic and supportive nature. After the Marine Corps I joined the U.S. Army where I became a Combat Medic in the 82nd Airborne. I served on two combat tours to Afghanistan and Iraq where I treated over eight hundred patients either with fellow medics, alongside a physician or alone in austere environments. My passion for solving problems through teamwork, patient/ provider relationship development, emergency surgical procedures and education was developed during my time as a Combat Medic. I am currently a senior at North Carolina State University pursuing a degree in Biochemistry. I graduate May 2019 with hopes of attending medical school in the near future.
