Medika Thorpe is a proud Gunai, Gunditjmara and Gooreng Gooreng woman living on Worimi country. Medika comes from a performing arts background and at age 9 she was part of Bangarra’s first production, Praying Mantis Dreaming. Later in her years, Medika continued to perform and worked with Vibe Australia as a dancer, facilitating dance workshops with youth around the country and appearing Logie nominated tv show Move It Mob Style. Medika continued at Vibe as the Community Engagement Manager consulting with community on projects and events such as Vibe 3on3's and The Deadlys. Before her work at Vibe, Medika worked in Community Health for many years in administration in areas such as Mental Health, Dietetics, Paediatrics and Drug & Alcohol. In 2016, Medika became the Co-Festival Director at Winda Film Festival celebrating Indigenous films from around the world. She also was the coordinator of MediaRING, a collective of media organizations that help enhance career opportunities for Indigenous people in the media industry.Medika also worked with NITV, ABC and with independent businesses on various projects and productions in a productions and producer roles. In 2014, Medika moved to Canada where she became the Guest Services Manager with the world’s largest Indigenous film festival, ImagineNATIVE in Toronto.Medika is currently the Event Production Manager at 33 Creative, a First Nations media, communications and events company working on various projects and events nationwide. Medika is also the co-Chair of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Panel for the City of Sydney.Medika has recently started working as a Producer on tv projects such as NITV/SBS' tv show 'Going Places with Ernie Dingo' and looks forward to getting more experience in producing on future projects.
