Mediyansyah graduated from Faculty of Forestry - Tanjungpura University (UNTAN) of West Kalimantan as a forester. He has over than 12+ years of professional experience in biodiversity and conservation. He first gained experience as an amphibian and reptile specialist where he was involved in various projects related to herpetofauna diversity surveys. He is an expert on terrestrial fauna surveys and has conducted many biodiversity assessments for forest plantations, palm oil plantations, mining, and other sectors. He was one of 1,000+ scientists and experts around the world taking part in the IUCN Red List assessments of the second Global Amphibians Assessment (GAA2). He familiar with international standards (IFC Performance Standards, World Bank Environmental and Social Standards [ESS], Equator Principles, ICMM, ADB Safeguard Policy Statement [SPS]), and has also received training on the High Conservation value (HCV) and High Carbon Stock (HCS) assessment.
