Margaret Doherty is a Student Athlete at Carnegie Mellon University's College of Engineering. Colleagues describe them as "Maggie Doherty demonstrated exceptional brilliance in University of Pittsburgh: STAT 0200 Statistics, as a Six Sigma Green Belt as well as in an earlier Honors Algebra II class. Maggie graduated with honour near the very top of her very competitive class. As you may guess from meeting her in person, Maggie has an innate glow which brightens everyone’s day when she enters a room. Her diligence and insight leave every group glad of her presence and every project complete well beyond expectations. In such matters, Maggie’s intelligence extends well beyond the academic into continuous, positive creativity. As should be evident from her class standing, Maggie’s work is exemplary. However, Maggie accomplishes much more than you see on paper and does not seek recognition for herself. As such, Maggie appears to internalize community and team success as personal success. She can always be depended upon to brilliantly and naturally lead others to fulfill any task with integrity. I have frequently relied upon Maggie’s leadership in class to manage her group (without her needing the title of ‘leader’) so that I may focus my efforts in direction and helping others. As a former automation engineer and Six Sigma Black Belt, I have been impressed with Maggie’s projects which, in particular, show an innate talent for math, design and project management. Beyond the basics noted here, Maggie’s methodology, for example, in her last Statistics project showed unexpected results, yet, her methodology was sound and thorough. She was honest enough as a researcher to accept the results - contrary to her beliefs and expectations. This sense of honesty and integrity will guide her to truly significant results in her future designs. Maggie Doherty has my highest recommendation for any team fortunate enough to draw her attention.
