I have served as Office Director for Title Programs with the Mississippi Department of Education since December 2011. As an Administrator with the Mississippi Department of Education, my work revolves around positively impacting the lives of high-risk youth and families across the State of Mississippi. This is accomplished by maintaining a clear understanding of state and federal educational policy. I have over sixteen years of experience as an educator, counselor and Pastor in the Jackson, MS area. My work has afforded me a broad knowledge of community needs juxtaposed to an in-depth understanding of state and federal educational policy. As a manager at the Mississippi Department of Education my experience offers support beyond theory. In short, as the State Title I Director for Mississippi, I direct Title I, Part A and manage six other Title programs. These programs have a combined annual budget of 65 million dollars. Daily I supervise eight direct reports and 12 indirect reports to accomplish Title Program goals within Mississippi. My work demands that I maintain a working knowledge of federal law, regulations, and guidance related to Title I, Part A; Title I, Part C; Title I Part D; Title II, Part A; Title III; Title VI and Title X in order to provide technical assistance and training to school district administrators and staff. In addition I conduct and coordinate trainings, workshops and conferences on compliance issues as they relate to the ESEA, EDGAR, and OMB Circular A-87 to include the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2008.
