Born and brought up in the capital, marriage brought me to Bangalore. My Graduation and Post Graduation from Delhi were of no help in the family business. However considering the future family responsibilities I joined the Tyre business. It gave immense pleasure as every day was a challenge. This was the best choice I made with a clear focus of having flexible timing to set up my home and start a family. After being a devoted mother and home maker for sixteen years there came a time when I began evaluating my life. I was in pursuit of more meaningful life that drove me to the field of counseling.I began my journey as a volunteer way back in 1997, at ‘ASHA’, a Rehabilitation center for schizophrenics run by Richmond Fellowship Society. On one hand it was heartrending to work with the patients there, on the other hand human behavior fascinated so much that I decided to train myself to be a professional counselor. So I did my first course in counseling in 1999 and volunteered at various NGO’s and schools which endowed me with the right foundation to build my career in counseling. Since then there has been no looking back. I undertook various courses to equip myself enough so that I can start my own institute. The focus was crystal clear – reach out to the lonely and distressed, be it children, adolescent, couples and families.I set up “Prerana Academy’ in 2003 in Bangalore and since then we have been able to help many many people have better relationships.At Prerana we believe in exploring and expanding human energy and potential.
