As a Professor of I/O Psychology at the University of Utah Health, I support the Occupational Injury Prevention PhD program housed in the Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (RMCOEH). This includes research, teaching, and service as I work with students and faculty in the RMCOEH and members of the large University of Utah community.Additionally, I am the director of the Center for Meeting Effectiveness (CME) at the University of Utah housed in the RMCOEH. The purpose of CME is to be the world's #1 source for the latest on Meeting Science, including how to make all types of workplace meetings effective, regardless of the modality (i.e. face-to-face, video-conference, tele-conference, virtual, and so on). CME does this by studying how meetings impact on employees (attitudes, behaviors, well-being), how they can be used to maximize outcomes (organizational, leadership, employee), and the many functions performed within them (problem-solving, coordination, strategizing).Recently, as an author of "Suddenly Virtual: How to Make Remote Meetings Work", my work has changed focus and now most of my research, speaking, and consulting centers around virtual meetings and remote work.
