Nicholas Marcus Thompson is an award-winning human rights advocate, non-profit executive and keynote speaker. He strives to dismantle systemic racism and discrimination from Canada's civil services, labour unions, and all other areas of Canadian life. He has been featured as a speaker at many prestigious institutions such as Amnesty International and the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. Mr. Thompson has served in many elected roles in Canada's labour movement including President of the Union of Taxation Employees Toronto North, representing workers at the Canada Revenue Agency, 2nd A/Regional Executive Vice President, Vice President of the Greater Toronto Area Council, and Chair of the Toronto Racially Visible Committee at the Public Service Alliance of Canada. ​In 2020, Mr. Thompson mobilized federal public service workers and filed a $2.5 billion class action lawsuit against the entire federal public service for discrimination against Black workers. In 2020, Mr. Thompson served as the Executive Director of the Black Class Action Secretariat, the non-profit organization that is leading the charge to combat systemic racism and discrimination. In 2024 he was appointed President and CEO by the Board of Directors. ​Mr. Thompson's relentless advocacy for marginalized workers has led to legislative and policy changes to remove the barriers workers face. Mr. Thompson is the proud recipient of many awards including the Bob Marley Humanitarian Award, Bromley Lloyd Armstrong Award, Racial and Social Justice Awards, and Union Leadership Awards in recognition of his tireless work in the areas of equity, inclusion, and human rights.
