SAFe Practice Consultant Trainer, Trusted Advisor, and Organizational Transformation CoachI was first introduced to the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®) in December 2012. I was skeptical at first. I’d been working in agile since 2004, when I went to work for ThoughtWorks. I fully immersed myself in the agile way of doing and being, professionally and personally, and felt there was no other way to deliver products and services to customers.Elements of SAFe felt contrary to that, until I took a SAFe Practice Consultant (SPC) course with Dean Leffingwell, Colin O’Neill, Drew Jamillo, and Alex Yakima, in Boulder, CO, December 2012. Along with 7 amazing colleagues and friends from Capital One, I realized the power of SAFe. I became an SPC, and continued my immersion into SAFe. I was accepted into the second SPCT cohort in August 2014, and became a certified SPCT shortly thereafter.I have spent my entire professional career working with large enterprises, starting with the US Navy, first as an intern, then as a consultant with Planning Systems, Incorporated, now part of QinetiQ. I continued my consulting work with Accenture, working in telecom with the “baby bells.” After Accenture, came Thoughtworks, helping large financial services, media, logistics, transportation, and retail clients, to be more agile through training, coaching and advising. Since leaving ThoughtWorks in 2009, I’ve continued working with large enterprises, training, coaching and advising them on how to organize around value, be more nimble in their vision, strategy and execution to deliver value to their customers, and ultimately to themselves. In 2015, I co-founded Temenos+Agility with Siraj Sirajuddin, where we continue this work to this day. What I’ve learned over these past 20 years is that it’s not about agile, it’s not about scaling agile. It’s about personal and organizational transformation. It’s about meeting each individual in the enterprise where they are and helping them navigate change, first from within themselves, then from without, leading the change in the enterprise. Throughout all of this work, I’m also transforming, continuously learning and growing to be a better trainer, coach, and advisor, and fundamentally a better human being.Would you like to join me in this lifelong pursuit? I’m available for short and long term engagements, working with change leaders, co-creating a vision and strategy for your organization, defining and implementing a roadmap that will realize your vision, creating an environment where you and everyone in the enterprise can thrive.
