The role of a stage manager is varied and ever-changing. In this role, I plan events, coordinate people, equipment, and finances, and communicate with all stakeholders. I often organise paperwork and comply with OHS standards. Liaise with site managers, performers, directors, producers and technical crews in order to run smooth events.Depending on the project, I source props, materials, sets, costumes and/or equipment. I operate sound and lighting for some projects.This role pushes me to think on my feet, communicate clearly and efficiently, and have a keen eye for detail. I have found many useful transferable skills come from stage management.
