I'm a staff writer for the popular new magazine Quiltfolk (top selling quilt publication at Barnes & Noble) and I contribute to a wide range of publications from Art Quilt Quarterly to The Wall Street Journal. In addition, I write an email newsletter called Quilt Journalist Tells All! and lecture and teach across the country at quilt guilds, museums and conferences. National nonprofit based in Ashevelle, N.C. whose mission is to document, preserve and share the stories of quilts and their makers. Projects include an oral history project archived at the Library of Congress, Quilters' S.O.S. - Save Our Stories. As president, I raised money, led meetings, helped organize national events and fundraisers and worked with a board that includes curators, historians, quilt industry leaders, art quilters and more. I helped raise the profile of this small but vital non-profit, whose projects and resources are largely online. The organization's signature annual in-person fundraiser, Quilters Take Manhattan, was my idea. It morphed during the pandemic into a virtual gathering called Quilters Take a Moment (still with the initials QTM).

I worked in the Chicago and NYC buros and covered many beats, including commodities, agriculture, the food industry, publishing, the business of the arts, and the music business.
