Working for the UEA Publishing Project, focusing on marketing and publicity for Boiler House Press and Strangers Press titles. Responsibilities include:– Personally managing the Instagram accounts for all three of the publisher’s imprints– Updating title data on Consonance and Nielsen Title Editor– Scheduling social media posts using Meta Business Suite– Organising and attending meetings with local business owners for local marketing campaigns– Designing content for the Boiler House Press and Strangers Press social media accounts using Adobe Photoshop– Writing copy for social media content– Contacting publications and individuals for book reviews– Communicating with authors, translators, and academics in order to promote titles– Organising and attending meetings and delivering notes to the UPP director– Representing the publisher, selling books, and taking photographs at events (including book launches and the Royal Norfolk Show)– Being filmed for promotional material (in academic conversation with a professor at UEA for the release of Quarry by Jane White)– Reading manuscripts, writing evaluative reports, and writing acceptance or rejection letters to authors

My tutoring job involved teaching English Literature to GCSE and A-Level students, as well as proofreading a PhD thesis. I took part in several courses in order to improve the quality of my tutoring and delivered over 250 total hours of lessons.I produced resources in Photoshop for my students, using my creative skills to help my students.

For this internship, I worked on a long-term gender and radicalisation research project in the oldest peace and conflict centre in the UK. Our group received support from the Institute for Strategic Dialogue. Refillar is a project set up by the 'Enactus' society at Lancaster University. Refillar aims to reduce food waste, the climate impact of food, and food poverty.My volunteering role involved contributing to the Refillar blog, as well as creating and sharing recipes that focused on affordable, healthy and sustainable eating. My role also involved proofreading the work of other contributors.

In my second year of university I was the Publicity Exec for Up North Arts, a student-run society at Lancaster University that aims to provide networking and exhibition opportunities. My role involved creating content to share with the community and managing the society's social media accounts. I produced graphics and posts using Adobe Photoshop, shared art competitions and exhibitions, and suggested artists to support and engage with. I also produced several tutorials for specific art practices and techniques.

I worked in this role throughout my A-Level studies, showing my ability to balance studying and paid work.

During this job I acquired customer service and communication skills and also learned how to work efficiently in a team.
