In this position with West Chester University Resident Life and Housing I am:*Planning events to engage and educate the students under my care and supervision*Maintaining work/life balance while living where I work*Mediating conflict and facilitating connections and friendship for a diverse group of about 90 undergraduate students*Designing cohesive floor themes with décor to promote a sense of fun and creativity in the hall while also including valuable information and resources I was going to begin my journey into Resident Assistantship in Fall 2020 when COVID-19 began ravaging the nation and our campus was shut down, so when I got the 2nd opportunity to come into the role for the 2021-22 school year I leaped at the chance. Here I am honing my interpersonal and conflict management skill while working as an individual and in a team environment. I'm also developing my event planning and engagement skills that I hope to take with me into my career.

At this position in Sykes Student Union on WCUPA campus I:* Worked in a fast pace environment* Managed incoming phone calls including transferring to the correct office/person and taking messages. * Learned the functions and operations of the building from peers in a short time span* Understood and operated all audio/visual equipment, demonstrating an ability to troubleshoot through any technical difficulties. My main functions at Sykes Student Union were to work the service desk providing customer service, open/close the building, and report any incidents (primarily student misconduct and sanitation issues) to the proper channels. If I had to name the defining aspect of this position, it would be 'Customer Service with a smile and a gentle "no". It is a service desk job in a building with strict, set rules and guidelines to be followed. I have found being able to tell a guest "no you cannot do that" and having them leave still satisfied with your service is a skill in-of-itself.

During this seasonal job with the WCUPA Orientation Team I:* Guided large groups through campus and activities* Communicated effectively in a public setting and within a team environment* Informed new students about campus resources, policies, and involvement opportunitiesDuring my time as an Orientation Leader I guided over 200 students individually and as part of a partnership/team through their first day on campus. Everyday had its unique challenges that I had to think quickly to overcome while maintaining the best first day for these new students as possible to improve new student retention.

At Pho Xua, a Vietnamese noodle house, I:* Cleaned and organized work areas, equipment, utensils and service station.* Served customers in fast, efficient and friendly manner.* Provided customers with information regarding food ingredients, availability and pricing.* Worked in a team in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.As is the case with many restaurant jobs, I often had a diverse rotating team of people to work with, which meant I had to adapt quickly to different working situations on a shift-by-shift basis. This work was very detailed oriented both from the financial side and the cooking side, both components that I picked up and kept pace with within the first few months of working there.

As a full-time self-employed live-in childcare provider I:* Organized activities and implement curricula that stimulated children's physical, emotional, intellectual, and social growth.* Held sole-responsibility for children's safety and supervision on a daily basis.* Ensured the children were learning positive behaviors and providing guidance or approved discipline, as needed.* Provided care for the children, such as setting schedules and routines, grooming, feeding, changing diapers, and cleaning rooms and toys.I earned this invaluable work experience directly after graduating high school, it taught me an abundance of time management and responsibility, as well as softer 'skills' and attributes like patience and adaptibility, as well as further developing my ability to empathize with others.
