Megan is a dedicated professional with extensive experience supporting children with disabilities and developmental delays. She firmly believes in the power of inclusive education. Her diverse background includes program development for disadvantaged children in Egyptian orphanages and implementing a pilot MultiLit literacy initiative at a primary school in Cape York.Megan holds a Master of Special Education from Macquarie University, where she taught at the Special Education Centre and tutored postgraduate courses in special education. As Manager of Families and Education at STaR (Special Teaching and Research), she mentors special educators and early childhood educators, helping them effectively include infants and young children with disabilities. Megan collaborates closely with families, support coordinators, NDIS local area coordinators, and allied health and medical professionals to ensure a collaborative approach that supports the functioning of the family as a whole. As part of the STaR Education team, Megan facilitates webinars and workshops to build educators' and families' capacity. PD content includes "Inclusion in Early Childhood Settings," "Observations and Planning for Inclusion," "Strategies to Support Inclusion," "Transition to School," "Implementing Individual Learning Plans in inclusive settings," "Supporting," "Guiding Children's behaviour," and "Supporting emotional and social skills."In addition to her professional endeavours, Megan actively contributes to the community as a Director of an ACCO at Yawarra Community and Child Care Centre, where she supports the manager, families, children and educators. She is committed to fostering best practices in culturally informed practices and inclusive education, ensuring that all children receive the support they need to thrive.
