Design, deliver, and evaluate effective, culturally sensitive, medically accurate and developmentally appropriate educational programming related to sexual health and life skills.

While obtaining my Master of Social Work, I was given leadership of a mentoring program designed to foster success and campus identification for freshmen students with disabilities. I supervised and trained mentoring students and monitored academic and social progress of participants. In an effort to create more connection with other Disability Resource units from neighboring academic institutions, I independently designed collaborative social gathering events for their students. With these responsibilities I continuously collected and evaluated data in order to promote sustainable change for future programming. Finally, as part of the Student Life division, I also participated in two committees designed to advocate and promote diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice on campus and within departments. As a member of these committees, I assisted in developing trainings and forums on diversity and inclusivity for the greater university environment.

I co-facilitated a year-long youth development peer education program which aims to reduce teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infection rates while promoting service, advocacy, and youth leadership. I provided supervision and mentoring to diverse peer educators and assisted them in planning community service and awareness projects for national sexual health events. I also collaborated with diverse audiences including local schools, universities, youth-serving agencies, American Indian populations, adjudicated youth, at-risk youth and homeless youth to deliver community education presentations and outreach opportunities. Furthermore, I independently structured and facilitated a 30-hour sexual health and prevention program designed for at-risk and homeless youth in which I created educational activities from evidence-based curriculums, delivered programming, developed and managed a budget and youth stipends, as well as evaluated the program upon completion.

Minnesota Department of Health received various grant proposals to focus support to HIV positive individuals and their partners with or without an HIV diagnosis. There were four possible tracks for funding including, risk reduction and sexual health education programming, syringe services, HIV testing, and social media education outreach for youth of all ages. I was chosen to be a community reviewer representative from the Greater Minnesota region. I was assigned to a team of three others to review proposals in the social media education outreach track for youth of all ages.

I was chosen as a student to participate in a federal grant writing effort with other faculty members for the Master of Social Work program. The funding would be used to support programs in recruiting graduate students and providing education and clinical experiences to address the mental and behavioral health needs of rural, vulnerable, and/or underserved populations or veterans, and their families. As part of the team, I independently researched and wrote the needs assessment of the grant proposal. The department was one of approximately twenty schools nationally to receive the Mental and Behavioral Health Education Training Grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration.

I worked as an instructor for freshmen orientation seminar, introduction to computer literacy, and introduction to sociology online. As a first stop for multiple freshmen orientation seminar sections, I built rapport with incoming students and adults returning to college. Additionally, I served on a leadership team to enhance freshmen orientation in the future and advocated for career development courses for adults returning to college.

My duties included clerical work and assisting in daily operations such as database entry, filing, answering phones, and scheduling clients. In addition, I assisted in organizing fundraising events through press releases, ticket production and sales, and locating donors and sponsors.
