After earning my undergraduate degree in Biology from Colorado College I applied my life-long interest in a career in medicine toward becoming a dentist. I completed my DDS degree at the University of Southern California and then went on to complete a 12-month program to earn an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency certificate, while working in a Federally Qualified Health Clinic in Walla Walla, WA. It was at this clinic that I began my training in sedation dentistry for children. After completion of my AEGD residency, I returned to Southern California to complete a 25-month, hospital-based residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Rady Children's Hospital, overseen by UCLA School of Dentistry. While a resident at Rady's, I served as an integral part of the hospital's multi-disciplinary teams for the purpose of providing care to severely medically compromised children and special-needs patients. Additionally, I trained in the use of several different modalities of sedation dentistry for children, including providing full-mouth restorative dentistry for patients under general anesthesia. I practiced in San Diego, CA for three years before moving back to Seattle, WA to live and work in the city in which I was raised. In 2016, I became a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a two-step certification process. I undertook this voluntary testing in order to ensure that I practice with an industry-leading standard of excellence in skills and knowledge within my specialty.
