I am a third-year environmental engineering student at the University of British Columbia enrolled in the cooperative work experience program (co-op). I love being outdoors, exploring new places, and interacting with people. I have used work and school as an opportunity to explore different regions of Canada, which has diversified my knowledge about engineering approaches to problems. Working in a northern context, I have been exposed to unique challenges, such as building in permafrost and remote locations. I am also fortunate to have grown up in a small rural town in southern Alberta before moving to bustling Vancouver, and the contrast between these two spaces has largely shaped my worldview.I have a strong passion for our earth and working towards a more sustainable world.I also enjoy being involved in my student community, holding positions with the Environmental Engineering Student Association, the Varisty Outdoors Club and acting as mentor with Women in Engineering. Contributing to and building community is very important to me, as I have spent time feeling out of place in the things that I hold close to me, like STEM and the outside world. I would describe myself in three words as optimistic, enthusiastic, and creative.... ask me why I like old stairs.
