  I work in a busy OB/GYN office as a Clinical Registered Medical Assistant. I work closely with a CNM (Certified Nurse Midwife) seeing 15-18 patients per day. I prepare exam rooms, clean exam rooms, set up and assist with procedures that vary from insertion and removal of birth control devices, Endometrial Biopsies, Colposcopies, LEEPs, lesion removals, etc. I obtain patients medical histories, review of systems and input into our EHR system. I administer vaccinations (Tdap, Flu, Gardasil, etc) and injections (Rocephin, medroxyprogestrone, 17P, etc) under provider supervision. I preform phlebotomy as needed, preform basic lab tests such as urinalysis and pregnancy tests. Collect urine cultures, cervical/urine gonorrhea and chlamydia specimens, helping provider with cervical cancer screening pap smears (placing in formalin), wound cultures. I help patients order new birth control devices by taking care of the needed pharmacy ordering forms giving patient and insurance information to required departments. I help patients obtain prior authorization for certain medications. I fill in and help other providers in our office as needed. I have experience working with the MDs, ANPs, and CNMs in our office. I also help work in our front office as needed answering telephones, routing calls to correct staff, scheduling patients, helping with medical records, contacting patients about appointment reminders, maintaining HIPPA.
