Megan’s experience to date, both in work and education, has led her to follow her passion for a career in accounting. Megan began her work experience in retail while still in high school, gaining valuable skills in customer service, communication, and team work. Upon graduating high school, Megan spent a year in New Brunswick Community College’s Environmental Technology program. The experience was of great value; however, without a passion for the career, Megan decided to seek another area of education to pursue. During employment with Kent Building Supplies, Megan became certain of her passion for accounting and enrolled in New Brunswick Community College’s Business Administration: Accounting program. Megan spent two years employed with Kent where she gained expertise in customer service and was entrusted with an office administrative assistant position. Megan was also given the responsibility of supervising all cash staff while with Kent, this opportunity greatly enhanced her communication and team work skills. Megan has since graduated from New Brunswick Community College’s Accounting program with honors and possesses a strong education in introductory, intermediate, and managerial accounting; as well as in finance, financial mathematics, and statistics. She has also acquired great practical skills in all Microsoft Office tools, including advanced skills in Excel. She has advanced skills in Sage 50 accounting software, as well as experience and knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software. Following graduation Megan worked for a bookkeeping firm and a professional accounting firm where she gained valuable experience by working with a variety of clients. It was these two fantastic employment opportunities that helped to prepare Megan for her career with The Learning Bar as their Finance Officer. Megan now handles all accounting and finance related responsibilities for a growing international company whose mission is to give all children the opportunity to thrive.
