The Constellation Collective is a strategy consultancy that works with female leaders and creatives on communications with purpose. The Constellation was co-founded by two creative strategists, Megan Canning & Rachel Crawford, who believe in the power of design and communications to make change, and that great strategy is a necessary ingredient.

I provide brand & communications strategy, creative direction, and project management for clients in the arts, design, civic, and nonprofit sectors. I help clients think through how, what, and why they communicate to their stakeholders and then help them express themselves in a clear, consistent, and compelling way that is true to their brand. My work takes many forms–I can create and unify external communications; lead a website design or redesign process; manage and produce printed matter such as marketing brochures, program materials, or policy publications; conduct social media, website, and brand audits; develop an effective social media strategy; establish voice guidelines; guide a branding (or re-branding) process; write and edit publications; or create content for special projects like exhibitions. I also advise organizations on ways that their internal systems, operations, and infrastructure can be streamlined so that all aspects of their brand and communications strategy are effective. Select clients include: American Architectural Foundation, Curry Stone Foundation, MTWTF, and the NYC Department of Small Business Services.

The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation is an artist-endowed foundation with a robust philanthropy program, a vibrant artist residency, and an active art & archives department. In this newly created position which reported directly to the CEO, I led brand strategy, directed external communications (including website, digital initiatives, social media, public relations, and print communications), and managed a diverse portfolio of special projects. I managed the Foundation's first cause-licensing partnerships with national brands Warby Parker and West Elm, social enterprise The Stateroom, and various museums, such as The Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and Tate Modern; a national student video competition about the art in the White House; and a pilot fellowship program with Art in America to support arts writing in under-represented regions of the United States.

The Design Trust for Public Space is a nationally-recognized civic design nonprofit that has led the transformation and evolution of public space in New York City since 1995. As Deputy Director I operated at both the macro and micro scales: directing communications strategy, branding, and identity while also producing content for all external platforms; providing strategic guidance on program selection, development, and execution while also managing the content, design, and production of several policy publications, public exhibitions, and mini-websites; promoting the organization nationally and internationally while providing effective thought leadership and managing internal operations. In 2015 I led a complete branding refresh of the organization, including the creation of a new mission, vision, and values statements, an update of the visual identity and marketing materials, and a complete overhaul of the design, development, and content for designtrust.org. In 2017, the Design Trust received the National Award for Corporate & Institutional Achievement from the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.

For a seven-month period I served as the Acting Executive Director while the Board conducted a national search for a new Executive Director. During this transitional time I managed all programmatic activity, fund-raising and general operations; successfully retained all staff and Board; forged a new strategic partnership with Nissan; secured the organization’s first NEA grant; served as one of three outside design advisors for NYC’s new taxicab; and relocated the organization’s offices to Tribeca.

I first joined the staff of the Design Trust as office manager and operations director, providing administrative and programmatic support for a growing organization of two. In this role I produced project-related publications, events, and exhibitions; coordinated the annual benefit & art auction; directed external communications, marketing, and branding; and managed financial, administrative, and physical operations.
