Hack Club volunteers have volunteered more than a combined 60 hours in one month at Western Row elementary school to teach STEM basics and get students excited about technology (with programs at Mason Intermediate School and the West Chester MidPointe library). To raise funds for the new club, 24 Hack Club volunteers worked over 40 hours each at the region's first summer Hack Camp (2017). As of 2018, Hack Camp has raised over $20,000 to support club and outreach spending. Hack Club members have also demonstrated their aptitude in code by attending local hackathons, placing third at RevolutionUC in 2017 and beating out many other high-school, undergrad, and grad students. 6 Hack Club students collaborated to build CincyHacks, Cincinnati's first high school hackathon. As of the end of the 2018 school year, Mason Hack Club has impacted more than 500 students and partners in our community, and we are on track to impacting 1,000 by the end of the 2018 calendar year.As executive director and co-founder, I have been the figurehead of the club and the driving force behind the club’s momentum.- Leading organizer of Hack Camp 2017 and 2018; managed logistics, marketed to school district by reaching out to sponsor company (Cengage Learning) and teachers, recruited and trained volunteer instructors, led each day of the four-day (2017) and five-day (2018) camp- Leading organizer of CincyHacks; managed logistics, secured local company support and sponsorship, reached out to tri-state area to find more students- Organize sponsored opportunities for club members to network with and learn from IT professionals- Organize unique outreach programs at local schools, libraries, rec centers, etc. to promote interest in IT and technology literacy
