Sincerely, Wayne King" and "Local chapters of the Special Libraries Association provide a network of information professionals in a specific geographic area, and the Washington, DC (DC/SLA) chapter is one of the largest in the association. DC/SLA relies on volunteer leaders to run the business of the chapter. These leaders invest their time and talent, while gaining management and professional experience. Megan Smith is one such local leader. In 2012 Megan served on DC/SLA's Communication's Committee in the newly created role as Facebook Editor. Before she stepped into this role the chapter had a Facebook group of 12 members. Megan helped us plan, launch, and market a new Facebook fan page. She's utilized a central information dashboard to pull timely relevant posts for our members and curate them on our fan page on a daily basis. Due to her hard work in less than 6 months our fan page likes exceeded our group page membership by more than 950 percent! Furthermore she has participated in strategic planning meetings - in fact her input was critical in drafting a strategic communications plan for 2013. Her creativity and expertise with social media have been invaluable assets to our chapter."
