The Lower Makefield Youth Running (LMYR) club is dedicated to developing young athletes through a character-based approach that goes beyond physical training. Our program emphasizes qualities like perseverance, teamwork, and self-discipline, aiming to build not just strong runners, but well-rounded individuals. By focusing on the holistic development of each athlete, LMYR creates an environment where young runners can grow both on and off the track, learning skills that will benefit them throughout life.Originally launched in 2019 at Eleanor Roosevelt Elementary School, the program was run for five years through the school's PTO, addressing the lack of running opportunities for both boys and girls in the Bucks County area. With its growing success, LMYR was officially established in the fall of 2024 to serve boys and girls ages 5-12 across Lower Bucks, expanding beyond a single school. The young athletes are trained to compete in road races ranging from 1 mile to 5Ks, creating unique opportunities for families to race together and embrace running as a lifelong sport. With over 500 athletes impacted, LMYR not only develops strong runners but fosters family bonding and community involvement.
