She obtained her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio where she also earned minor degrees in Spanish and Sociology. After finishing her undergraduate studies, Ms. Mastro worked as a classroom teacher at Horizon Education Center, a non-profit organization. In 2017, she moved to Madrid, Spain to work as an English Language Assistant (Auxiliar de conversación) where she earned a TEFL certificate for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. In Fall 2018, Professor Mastro moved back to her hometown in Cleveland, Ohio to begin her graduate assistantship at Cleveland State University. In Spring 2020, she graduated with her Master of Arts in Spanish with a concentration in Spanish Linguistics and a graduate certificate in TESOL. Currently, her research interests include: Innovation in Education, Teaching self-compassion, empathy, cultural competence and emotional intelligence in youth; Positive Psychology in Language Learning; Spanish Pedagogy K-16; Dual language education; Spanish heritage language learner/teacher education; Language immersion program development and administration; Bi/Trilingual/Multilingual-Multicultural Education Curriculum & Teaching training.Experienced educator. Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Experience in Lesson Planning, Leadership, Team collaboration, Event managing, Creative problem solving.
