A key focus for Megan has been how to ensure that policy is developed and implemented to achieve meaningful change.

Key responsibilities / tasks include:- Providing technical planning support for territorial authorities in the development of their policy and strategy documents;- Working with a wide range of stakeholders to promote Waikato Regional Councils policies and strategies;- Implementing Waikato regional policy in order to promote policy integration across the region;- Environment Court mediation processes and pre-court negotiations; and- Supporting and mentoring junior staff.Particular projects that I have been involved whilst in this role include:- Technical lead for the development of the proposed Waikato Regional Policy Statement (RPS) which included leading a team of policy advisors and consultants to ensure key deliverables were met;- Development and implementation of on organisational wide project to implement the RPS and to ensure the policy directions of the proposed RPS are integrated into the broader organisation;- Participation in the development of Councils’ Long Term Plan and other strategic and business planning processes; and- Preparation and delivery of submissions and the presentation of hearing evidence to local and central government within a variety of disciplines.

The key function of this role was to analyse and review external resource and land use development policies, regulation and legislation and to advocate the implementation of Waikato Regional Council’s policies through statutory processes and proactive relationships with identified key stakeholders. In addition I was the policy groups’ advisor responsible for natural hazards and air quality issues.

This was a contract position reporting to the Chief Executive. In this role I supported the organisation move to a more corporate style of management with the development of systems and processes that could be applied organisation wide.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Environment and Regeneration the primary purpose of this role was to design and manage key strategic projects on behalf of the Directorate. These included: - Development of a Borough wide campaign to target a reduction in environmental vandalism and enhance community involvement in the monitoring of the local environment. - Development of an enforcement strategy to provide direction to Councils environmental enforcement activities.

The key purpose of this role was to develop, maintain and monitor resource and land use development policy including Ruapehu District Plan, Ruapehu Long Term Plan, Strategic planning, Bylaws, Land Transport Program, and Asset Management Plans
