Megan McCaughan is a dedicated PhD student in Molecular & Cellular Biology at Arizona State University, where she investigates necroptosis and the innate immune evasion strategies of viral pathogens at the Biodesign Institute. Her research aims to advance our understanding of cellular defense mechanisms, contributing to innovative solutions in global health.Currently, Megan serves as the Director of Strategy for Nucleate Arizona, where she actively secures faculty advisors and industry leaders to strengthen partnerships between academia and life sciences startups. She has contributed to organizing an ideathon to foster innovation and entrepreneurial growth among aspiring bio-innovators while building a diverse board of advisors to enhance chapter direction and operations.As the Graduate Student Body President (GPSA), Megan represented over 30,000 graduate students, advocating for critical issues such as affordability, sustainability, and wellness. She has effectively managed a $1.8 million budget across multiple executive offices, securing an additional $75,000 in funding for graduate initiatives. Her efforts included launching ASU's first Homestay Program for international students and tackling food insecurity to ensure equitable access to resources.In her previous role as Vice President of Internal Affairs, Megan oversaw the allocation of approximately $800,000 in grant programs, chaired the STaR Committee, and managed a rigorous peer-review process with over 200 grant reviewers.
