I’m a visual futurist. I work with clients to develop and visually communicate their strategic vision. These 'preferrable futures' are strategised, visualised and then illustrated to communicate the vision with impact. I use the power of illustration to fire up people's imaginations and bring new possibilities and ideas to life. Does your business or organisation have something really important to say? Are you trying to articulate something complex, like a system or a challenging concept? Hand drawn images make a deep impression on the brain. The act of drawing helps to clarify and solve problems along the way.

Communications and Community Strategy

The League are a team of illustrators, experience designers, facilitators and campaign experts. We develop communications campaigns and content for social projects. We help make events memorable, capturing compelling content and ideas, bringing them alive and creating an indelible imprint in the minds of participants. We help people to tell complex concepts simply and memorably. We bring joy and wonder into events. Our form of artistic interpretation goes so much further than just pretty pictures that help create indelible memories. We play an integral role in the event (conferences, important meetings and presentations), shining a light on key content and creating visual memes and ‘takeaways’ from presentations that may otherwise not be emphasised, missed or easily forgotten. We synthesise and let themes coalesce in a way that shows diversity, dissent and alignment. We can take a room of 100 diverse participants and quickly synthesise their disparate visions into a single cohesive shared kaupapa in a matter of hours. We communicate this back to them poetically and visually as beautiful and cohesive work of art. It is goosebumps inducing. We use the power of creativity, empathy and insight to do what would normally take a team months of deliberation - in a matter of hours. It is a kind of magic. ​From here we generate shareable content for dissemination through social media, and create visual collateral that can be used in reports, publications and on the web.

We do self-understanding from a CORE perspective, because this is where change and acceleration can effectively happen.Most programs out there impose a new way of thinking on you. In contrast, GeniusYou works from the inside out, every concept introduced is personally relatable to your life. I stewarded ActionStation through its startup phase. It is a new kind of movement for New Zealand - enabling its citizens to take action for a fair, just and sustainable Aotearoa New Zealand. Our grassroots, independent, multi-issue campaigning platform enables kiwis with progressive values to rapidly respond and take action, online & in our community.

The WIUO formed in Wellington in 2005 and has become an international entertainment tour‐de‐force, delighting crowds of all ages with a show that works in opera houses, open‐air vineyards and rowdy pubs. The orchestra’s signature sound features eleven ukuleles, a double bass and a choir of gorgeous voices performing harmonious and hilarious renditions of modern and traditional tunes from the New Zealand songbook and international artists, alongside band members’ original compositions. The band’s New Zealand repertoire comprises a substantial and essential part of its show and recordings.The WIUO have toured Australia, Japan, China, UK, America (twice) and of course NZ (heaps)!

I was involved in the design strategy of the website and app for this revolutionary project (when it was Conscious Consumers), which was initially established to give the consumer power to choose products and services that were aligned to their values.

I was charged with developing and running the Election Campaign for the upcoming 2011 Election. The campaign enabled a 60% increase in the vote on 2008. The campaign emphasised an economic vision for clean, green prosperity for all New Zealanders starting with cleaning up our rivers, stimulating 100,000 green jobs and getting our children out of poverty.

The Intersect Trust resources purposeful young professionals to be more powerful in creating a world that works better for everyone. We achieve this through: * Connecting - bringing people, groups and ideas together. * Energising - encouraging action through fun and inspiration. * Learning - developing understanding through curiosity and dialogue. * Growing - cultivating people's abilities so that we can all reach our full potential.The Intersect Network is the leading initiative of the our trust. It is a self-organising community of young professionals, connected on-line and through local projects and events. The network includes accountants, artists, designers, engineers, entrepreneurs, health practitioners, IT gurus, journalists, lawyers, policy advisers, researchers, and many more.

I served as the a trustee and chair of the Sustainability Trust from 2005-2010. The trust makes peoples homes warmer, assists people to adopt more sustainable behaviour and hosts collaborations to catalyse our shared knowledge, resources and problem solving around sustainability.

I established Alto - a communication design company with a passion for sustainability. Alto is famous for 'Good Friday', an initiative whereby employees take a whole day to resource themselves, or work on projects that extend them and add meaning to their lives. Alto Design is on the "backburner" whilst other, more worldchanging projects build momentum and take over. Its unusual to put a company into hibernation - but in this instance, more important and exciting things are calling.Over time, my focus has shifted from visual communication design towards social innovation; using the web to power positive change in business, the environment and society.As a result of time invested through 'Good Friday' I helped establish Intersect - a network of purposeful young professionals. I am now gainfully employed to catalyse this network and bring about the beautiful world that I hold in mind.

I was employed as a design graduate, and was trained to intermediate design level before departing to set up my own business.
